Over the past month, the "Bush Image Rehab Campaign" has been trying to improve the Bush Family name with an almost-daily PRO-Bush "fact".

These amazing "facts" have easily reached the Top 10 of r/TodayILearned.

Today is no exception.

Actually, I thought the broccoli thing made Bush seem like a spoiled overgrown child. Is that really one of the more endearing things about his legacy?

I do, however, want to thank you for posting this. I'll be careful to check account histories more thoroughly before upvoting...if only because I love the idea of political propagandists having to spend months making advice animals and rage comics in order to seem credible.

Even if there was some campaign to make him a good guy, what purpose does it serve? The man is out of politics and most people already think he's a fuckup, posting a few stories on reddit isn't going to change anything.

Three possible reasons -

  1. Romney has difficulty speaking on foreign policy issues because polls show that people think it makes him sound "Bush-like." So, a social media campaign to improve Bush's image could be supported by a pro-Romney group looking to blunt the impact of that criticism.

  2. Pro-Jeb people skeptical about a Romney win in 2012 laying the groundwork for a run in 2016.

  3. There is just so much Republican Super PAC money out there that people are either running out of things to do with it or are putting together "test campaigns" to try to sell themselves as contractors to the organizations. Sort of like how HP Gary Federal copied those Anonymous like names out of Facebook to try to win the government and banking contracts.

Exactly my thoughts. As if the general consensus of the Bush family on Reddit will influence American politics in some meaningful way? A few TIL's won't have any lasting effect. Not sure what the OP is trying to say is the point of all this. But then again, this wouldn't be r/conspiracy if people weren't posting wild accusations with no effort to answer the question "WHY?".
