Lulzsec Security -- the Patriot IP Act catalyst

I'm sure of it, and Reddit's already eating it up.
The mainstream will certainly be no better.
What better way to appeal to the masses rather causing a ruckus in the media world about privacy -- about kids ( just look at the name) who are out to make trouble ( for the LuLz) that need to be controlled.

I agree. all the stuff they're doing is relatively harmless shit but it's high profile enough to prod some eager lawmakers into clamping down further on the web

Another interesting tidbit is that Lulzsec.com was registered to Adrian Lamo (the guy who allegedly narc'ed Bradley Manning out to the feds) until about a week ago: http://pastebin.com/0Gxgu6ns

I thought they used lulzsecurity.com, not lulzsec.com.
And they don't verify identity when a name is asked for.

They do, but it might make sense for them to reserve the other domain name.

I was thinking exactly the same, however the case, there is a fitting phrase here; Useful idiot. If they are allowed to do this highly visible hacks then I really do think its for a reason. Watch out for some harmless highly publicized 'government site'-hack. Then you will know more internet-clampdown is coming. Facebook have already started to call most alternative media "spam" and does not allow for posting.

Never trust a hacker group.
There is no honor among thieves.
