The Zapruder film was censored. Dan Rather was chosen to view it and report to Americans what was on the film. He lied about what he saw.

There are three glaring problems with what Rather reported.
First he says:
"The film shows President Kennedy's open black limousine making a left turn off Huston Street onto Elm Street on the fringe of downtown Dallas. A left turn made just below the window in which the assassin was waiting." < source >
Wait a minute, the Zapruder film doesn't show the limousine making a turn. Here's the total Zapruder film. < source > Clearly we can not see the limo making a turn. There is a deletion between frames 132 and 133 that totally removes the turn. Hmmmm.
Second he says that after the first shot hit Kennedy:
"Governor Connally . . . reached back in this fashion exposing his white shirt front . . the assassin's window. He reached back as if to offer aid or ask the president something. At that moment a shot clearly hit the Governor in the front . He fell back in the seat. < source >
Say what! Rather just said that the second shot hit Connally in the front.
Third and the totally mind blowing lie, he says:
"In the next instant, but this time Mrs Kennedy apparently looking on, a second shot, the third total shot, hit the president's head. His head could be seen to move violently forward ." < source >
FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!1 Are you kidding me, any reasonable person, even any unreasonable person looking at the Zapruder film must say this is a lie. Look at Rather's head movement compared to the Zapruder film. < source >
TL;DR - TL;DW = Rather's discription and the Zapruder film cued to proper times.

If you watch the video closely, at around frame 215, just to the right of the sign, you can see a man open an umbrella just as the first shots are fired at Kennedy.
Since it was a bright and sunny day, and especially due to the timing, many people consider this to be the "go ahead" signal to open fire.

There is a huge disparity in viewing the digitally restored film on a computer and watching it on a reel. I doubt he saw it a lot of times in a row as that requires loading and reloading the projector. So he probably had to remember a lot of it from memory, rather then the frame by frame analysis we have today.

You don't need to reload a projector, you just run it backwards. particularly since the film in question runs about 15 seconds.

Even in the first public viewing of the Zapruder film , a very poor quality print, it is obvious that the head moved violently backwards. Just look at it once and tell be that you could say that Kennedy's head moved violently forward and move your head like Rather did , you can't; unless you are blind and lying.

This isn't a conspiracy, Rather lied about what he saw.
Here's a copy of the Zapruder film first shown to the public, very poor quality. It is still obvious that Kennedy's head moves backwards violently , not forward.
