Are mosquito fogger trucks still a thing?

5 2018-04-21 by RC3P0

I remember seeing mosquito fogger trucks all the time growing up, but today I just realized that I haven't seen one in what feels like forever. I understand the reasoning behind them but I still never understood how people were just OK with having chemicals sprayed in the air all over their neighborhoods on a frequent basis. Were there any conspiracies surrounding they're use, and are they still being used today?

Pretty sure that would be DDT, which was banned in the US. Hence, why you don't see them spraying anymore (FWIW, I remember them as a kid).

Not true at all. They still spray in Maryland.

They still spray DDT?

I dont know for certain that its DDT but they still drive around and spray during the summer here.

which part of Maryland?

Dundalk/Edgemere/Fort Howard. They all spray.

yep...I grew up there and remember them. My dad still lives there and sees them.

any public opposition to it?

I'm not sure. I don't talk conspiracies with anyone anymore unless they initiate the conversation.

Same here man, you'll get roped into the category of "crazy person who believes every conspiracy that comes your way" if you just mention one valid point...

They dont spray DDT. Pretty sure its malathion oil if i remember right.

Yup in Houston tx

Haha that's literally where I live, Cypress

Yeah, haven't been around in a while probably because of the nice freeze we had knocked down some surface larva.

I bet I hear one drivin by house by July.

Who’s that peeking through your window?

That was you?

Wank on wank off - right off 290 lol

Yep sugarland... Go Skeeters.

Lmao nah go Wildcats bro

Lake Conroe TX 30min North of houston....just saw one last night around 3 AM

They spray here in my neck of the woods, by trucks. Noisy annoying sound sends me running to kill the A/C and shut things up tight. No pets. They shouldn't be left outside and any food/water dishes as well.

They spray constantly in Florida.

same for coastal georgia.

dont know about the trucks, but sprayer planes here use old vegetable oil.

I live in Chicago and a month ago I was looking at my property tax bill and saw a line item for Mosquito Abatement District. I called and they said they promise, they exist, and spray routinely.

The person I spoke with was nice, I thought at first I dialed a wrong number. She had no idea what they sprayed but she said it smelled like “motor oil.”

I havent seen a mosquito truck in 20 uears either but it turns out I pay for one.

All over fl

Yes saw one last year during summer. I cant believe they still do this shit.

They sprayed from trucks here when I was a kid, but now spray from helicopters.
