there is honestly some genius tier level stuff posted on 4chan and they have done stuff like track down Shia Labouf's flag just by seeing the cloud formations and plane pass by along with breakdowns of cultural psychology, philosophy, etc.

The racist terms in there.....its part of the culture. I dont personally go there, but I do check out posts that break out from there and reach here

Sure, 4chan has done some good work. I fondly remember their fight against Scientology. But an uncomfortable amount of the posts on the site have devolved into a circle jerk of "who can be more racist".

Reddit isn't going to solve it. I haven't a clue either. The only thing I've got is for us to keep at it. I think most of us are already incredibly skeptical of the shit we see online, astroturfing, shilling, etc. So we just keep having discussions and ignore the blatant shit.

Ever so often I think it's probably a good idea to make a post, maybe even be a sticky, that points out how what you see in threads is likely being manipulated in various methods. Instruct on how to change your settings so that you're able to see down voted comments. Just something to help guide new people who may be unaware.

What we're seeing is pervasive. I'm skeptical that even moving to a new platform would be fruitful. Eventually that too would become overwrought with the manipulation taking place here and on every other social platform. So the only thought I'm left with is that we don't stop what we're doing. We keep questioning, we keep conversing, and we absolutely and utterly persevere.
