Synthetic fragrance agenda, anyone else smell it?

Ever since I've begun to learn of the atrocities of western society, I've been slowly weeding out toxic chemicals from my life. Even so, one major one that I don't have much control over is artificial fragrance, not because I use them but because everyone else around me has been duped (neighbors, friends and some family members). I step outside for a breath of fresh air and lo and behold the air stinks of detergent, dryer sheets and whatever else.
The idea of spraying or releasing extremely harmful chemicals into the air ties into the whole web of conspiracy we've come to know and I believe it is becoming a major part of it. The fragrances continue to get stronger and seem to be causing people to have a near hatred for the natural scent of the human body. This is likely having a hugely detrimental impact on our hormone interaction, pheromones, psychological response to smell, and our sense of smell in general. Not only that, but there are likely chemicals hidden in the "fragrance" that disrupt normal bodily functioning and also accumulate over time, causing disease after years of poisoning.
Please do yourself and your families a favor and stop it with the artificial scents. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are sensitive to it as I am, and it can be extremely frustrating. It does not smell good whatsoever, it smells like cheap industrial waste which is probably what it's made from.
There is an alternative as always, which is to use scents that come from natural sources with no synthetic chemicals included or at the very least are "fragrance free". They're likely a little more expensive but at least you won't be paying to poison yourself. The easiest way would just be to give it up altogether and go back to being a natural smelling human being.
Just for clarity; artificial fragrance is in things like: perfume/cologne, laundry detergents, dryer sheets, dish/hand soap, candles, air fresheners, shampoo etc.
Inform your friends and family if you're being affected by this because they won't know until something is said.

Wow I'm glad someone finally said this. In an average household you find deterrgent, fabric softner, dishwashing liquid, shower gel to name a few. And every single one has a different, overpowering chemical smell. On top of that, there will be candles made of paraffin which is a carcinogen when burned.
On the other hand, you really have to dig around for natural scented stuff in supermarkets, and it wont come cheap. I'm a student and now have to hand wash my clothes in the bath with organic soap because my housemates use the cheapest laundry detergent and nobody really cares to spend more on a less toxic one. It literally makes me sneeze uncontrollably so now I spend every Sunday washing my bed sheets in the fucking bath

Modern detergent (especially tide) is full of carcinogens, tons of formaldehyde.

arm & hammer HE "free" is acceptable for me. and use half what it says to.
cleans and no smell at all.

Look up natural alternatives! Way cheaper than buying "natural" versions.
Check out the miracles of white vinegar. I swear to god I have a two gallon jug at home for like...everything.

You can make your own detergent like I do. No fragrances involved!
1 Little-nug 2018-01-26
Yeah I do need to look into this more tbh, I still wanna add some fragrances but only natural essential oils that give a subtle fresh smell.

Can you not just buy your own and keep it in your room
1 Little-nug 2018-01-26
Guess its just more effort, we pile all clothes in baskets over the week and one of us chucks it in the wash over the weekend. Can be done though.
1 mutantscreamy 2018-01-26
Buy your OWN basket..?
1 Little-nug 2018-01-26
Yeah its more like, if I'm going to see my parents or whatever over the weekend I really don't think my housemates would remember to wash my clothes separately. Sometimes nobody remembers to do it at all, its just uni life.
1 mutantscreamy 2018-01-26
Hence your own clothing basket..?

Also you know the machine is well rinsed every time

Marketers have known for decades that scents have influence power. One famous is citrus which conveys "cleanness" and "purity". Many more are used, from casinos to shopping centers.

I can't stand the smell of most scented candles. For cleaning, vinegar, salt and lemon juice does most jobs, you can even just cut a lemon in half, dip it in salt and use it as a scrubber. You can grow your own lavender and harvest it and put some in your closet or dresser if you want a nice smell. Toms makes good deodorant, or you can get salt rocks that seem to work quite well.

Yeah I had one of those things for the bathroom, the whole house smelled wonderful but we were getting extreme headaches and heart racing if the house wasn't being aerated frequently..
Chemical aromatics are serious shit, beware.

Disney world sprays smells throughout the resort to get people more "immersed" in the experience (spending more)
1 Joe_Sapien 2018-01-26
And casinos pump Oxygen to make you more alert and awake. Not a smell but thought I'd add this.
1 mr3ric 2018-01-26
really? I have never heard of this
1 Joe_Sapien 2018-01-26
Wow really? Glad I told ya something new! Yeah, they do it to keep you awake, focused and alert. Combine that with a winning high and you have dangerous cocktail. Have you ever been to a casino? In not go once, but go for like an over nighter. You will not get tired. I forget which one I was at in Jersey but I was got there about 8pm and was there until 7am wide awake drinking the whole time. I'm not really a gambler but went with friends and wanted to at least experience it. Drinks are free also, and this is the crazy part. They always seem to find you almost as soon as your drink is empty with a full drink ready for you.

Do you have a source?

An amusement park tries to smell good so that their patrons are happier, and thus spend more money?
HOW CRAZY

As someone with insanely sensitive sinuses and nose...
fuck you all. you all stink. brain melting eye watering stink.
ALL OF YOU.
And it's been a lifelong effort finding products without it.
The mods would delete this comment if i said what should happen to the people who made axe bodyspray too...

The world is drenched in perfumes and fragrances and it just has to be toxic.
Nothing good can smell like that!
The soap aisle in the store is like a punch in the face.
1 jbrs_ 2018-01-26
perfume and cologne are toxic. use essential oils topically instead. here is a good deodorant as well.
1 solarnova 2018-01-26
Put cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peels in a pot of water and simmer for a great smell. Pumpkin pie spice is good too.
1 mr3ric 2018-01-26
How much water? Do the peels have to be dry?
1 solarnova 2018-01-26
Use a medium sauce pot. Fill with water, about 3/4. Eat an orange and throw the peel in the pot. Add spices and simmer. It adds moisture to a dry house and smells great.

This isn’t a conspiracy. You just don’t like the smell of perfume and cologne.
People use it to smell good, because. Just, Because. No conspiracy.
1 Loud_Volume 2018-01-26
I think you missed the pertinent data point of them 95% of the time being harsh chemicals that are not good for the human body. You wanna poison yourself with synthetic bullshit? Go right ahead.
1 Sprayface 2018-01-26
Well duh cologne is dangerous chemical bullshit. It’s why I don’t wear it constantly.
My point is, there’s no conspiracy, you guys are just annoyed by cologne.
1 Loud_Volume 2018-01-26
There's plenty of conspiracy in that if you want to play that game. Especially if the companies know these chemicals are toxic yet continue to sell it because of money.
Not to mention a lot of ingredients and dyes here in the states are illegal elsewhere in the world. That's a conspiracy in itself.
Want me to keep going? If you're going to harp on people about conspiracies go post in all the shit political threads that make their way here.

I had to stop wearing anything with fragrance when I was like 17 (I’m 21 now). Artificial fragrances make me so nauseous and induce migraines. I feel like people think I’m annoying because I’m so particular about my products (like laundry detergent and soaps) but it makes such a difference.
1 estoypodrido 2018-01-26
Artificial scents oftentimes use petroleum derived organic volatile compounds so that they easily diffuse in the air. I suffer from excruciating migraines and the majority of cheap mass produced scented shit gives me headaches.
Candles, dryer sheets, air fresheners, fabric softener, bath salts, lotions, scented cat litter.
1 Upupabove 2018-01-26
People have no idea how harmful this is. Thousands of people have serious MCS due to scented products because your body can become allergic to them. I was reading about a lady who had to carry around a epi pen.
These are all vocs. They cause havoc on your immune system and a ton of neurological problems.
1 badbiosvictim1 2018-01-26
/r/electromagnetics covers multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). See our MCS wikis.
