Came across this beautiful quote that any Conspiracy theorist can relate to

To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing it's best, night and day, to make you into everybody else; means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight... and never stop fighting.

E. E. Cummings

The quote is from a video I was watching called The Psychology of Authenticity. It's more about psychology than about conspiracy theory. But the quote seemed so relevant.

Link to the video is here for anyone who's interested.

Keep reading, keep researching, keep communicating, keep fighting.

I'd gladly sacrifice authenticity for Truth.

What good is to have a authentic opinion if that opinion is that 1+1=3.5 ?

So you'd be okay if everyone had dead fish eyes chanting 1 plus 1 = 2 this is true. I'm sorry to say if you sacrifice authenticity you are removing truth. If people can't be themselves what is the point to truth.

What makes 1+1=2? Is it because we agree 1+1=2. If nobody defines what one is will it make it not true? x +1 = 2

So the truth is there whether we agree or not. Opinion doesn't change truth.

If someone has an honest opinion and believes 1+1=3.5 I'd much rather they say this is what they think and how they got there. Then I could explain why 1+1=2. Truth is I don't know why one plus one equals 2 but I can explain to the best of my knowledge as to why I believe it to be true.

The authentic person doesn't have to accept my explanation as to why things are the way things are. They can arrive to that conclusion on their own given time.

Well if I asked you does 2+2=4? Without giving units you would undoubtedly believe it were true.

But then you find out that the units in questing were gallons of water and gallons of ethyl alcohol respectively.

The answer would then be 3.8 (in regards to intermolecular dispersion)

My point being, thinking you have all of the information, when you actually don't, will leave you believing an untrue "truth."

Thanks, OP. Love it.

Great quote. Also, Academy of Ideas is a FANTASTIC YouTube channel

Psychology and Social Psychology are great fields to research.

Especially for conspiracy theorists. I continue to find Jordan Peterson's observations about Truth through Utility, and his application of Jungian psychology to everything from Mao's China to Pinocchio very compelling.

For anyone who hasn't checked him out yet, here he explains what Evil really means.

And yet Dr. Peterson I think wouldn’t consider himself a “conspiracy theorist” DESPITE the fact that he talks about coordinated social engineering agendas. So ironic :)

Well, that gets into the psychology of labels.

It's the deepest rabbit hole you'll find, because we don't really know how deep it goes.
