Reddit users NOT Buying WaPo's Propaganda AMA session in r\worldnews--just 1381 points/498 comments in a sub with 17 million+ subscribers (despite being left up for from Fri-Sun)...

Guess WaPo will have to keep buying ads on Reddit...
Top posts in r\worldnews often get 30K+ ...so having a stickied AMA with just 1,400 points over an entire weekend shows very low response/participation by users. (AMA session began 11 AM EST Friday)

Apparently WaPo now has their Official u\WashingtonPost account--joined April 20, 2017.

Other recent AMA sessions in r\politics by MSM not look to have low participation as well--NBC, CNN, WaPo...

doesn't this somewhat harpoon the idea reddit is overrun with CIA WAPO CTR Shills?
1 a_trashcan 2017-08-07
Evidence to the contrary of a conspiracy theory is almost always ignored here.
1 xleb1 2017-08-07
Wow. Why is that AMA in worldnews, and why has it been stickied now for 2 days?
Heyho. Three or four anonymous sources confirming what each have said, becomes fact.
The Washington Post used to be one of America's better newspapers. No more.
1 KaptainKorn 2017-08-07
Without anonymous sources the news would be non existent. It would literally just be press releases from companies.
1 mastermind04 2017-08-07
And uplifting local news about the cat that was stuck in a tree that was rescued.
1 KaptainKorn 2017-08-07
The best kind of news.
1 TrowwayFiggenstein 2017-08-07
Those are the only real stories.

So right my fellow conspiracy user! When such quality journalism from places without bias or a history of blatant corruption, like the Washinton Post, make it organically to the top of places with zero political bias and a base or well-informed, mature, educated users, like r-worldnews, then you can be sure that are reading quality information worthy of being presented by a completely fair and neutral platform like reddit's amazing "popular" page.
Furthermore, anonymous sources are a great way to test the allegiance of your followers. Since the strength of, accountability of, and very existence of an anonymous source is only as strong as the word of the person presenting you with their unverifiable testimony, two very clear options are available:
One) You believe because
you are a stand-up citizen
the news never lies
media outlets are free of political bias
the media would never throw together a story based on presenting a conclusion they already decided to present before doing their totally unbiased "research"
Two) You incorrectly question it because
you are a member of t_d
you are being paid by Putin to post on the internet
you smell a bit and people don't like you enough to tell you
you clearly have an agenda to turn reddit into t_d ver2.0 because anything less than full cooperation with anything related to how awful Trump is makes you a Trump apologist, Trump voter, and person who walks around in public wearing a MAGA hat
So I personally, and I am sure my fellow conspiracy users would also agree that when you have the trifecta of great journalism like
the Washington Post
Reddit's prestigious "World News" subreddit
Reddit's totally unmanipulated "Popular" page
then it is very clear that only enemies of the
US
Global Good
Milky Way Galaxy
would ever dare to show dissent by questioning the anonymous sources that we know are genuine and we totally haven't reached a point where today's news (from anonymous sources) is being pushed onto people who will blindly believe it because of yesterday's news (from anonymous sources).
Thank you for reading my fellow conspiracy members. Now you know what to do in order to make sure this comment section becomes a perfect clone of an r-"politics" comment section. Another bastion of amazing journalism on this fine website we call reddit.

I'm not saying to trust all anonymous sources. I am simply expressing that the notion that anonymous sources are what all journalism is based on. No matter what you use whether it be breitbart, CNN, your neighbors conspiracy blog. All of it in past or present was originally from an anonymous source. Over time sources become known, but it often isn't until years after the fact.
Also I do not hate or even dislike Trump supporters. I may think the president is buffoon, but I think he was putting fingers on issues that had been bugging people for a long time. He personified the anger that stemmed from being lied to and conned by the government for nearly 60 years. So in the vein I can't blame people for voting for him. He also ran against the literal embodiment of government corruption in America which didn't hurt him.
I think that we truly want the same thing for our country, to be prosperous and to be safe. However, we disagree on how to come to those means.

My comment is directed at this subreddit, not you personally.
Your first comment is going to be gang-upvoted simply because of the way it will be interpreted by the "totally real fellow conspiracy users of this sub" who gang-upvote anything that dismisses the very valid point the OP is making.
Your second comment, I agree with so much of it that we clearly are on the same wavelength. But lets see how much that comment gets upvoted.

Yeah he kinda missed the point of your very well articulated post.
1 McLeech 2017-08-07
An anonymous source told me that you just made a great comment

Holy shit... The snark is strong with this one.
1 OmeronX 2017-08-07
Can't really dispute it though.

You. I like you. You actually KNOW how to wield propaganda.
1 Manalore 2017-08-07
I am absolutely loving these, please do not stop.
1 mastigia 2017-08-07
Hilarious man. Exactly right.
1 DontTreadOnMe16 2017-08-07
I love how that whole comment was dripping with so much sarcasm, that adding "/s" would have been pointless.
Hilarious. Great post.

Why the fuck are you even here? lol get out.

A straw man so big no one could ever hope to take it all down. A very interesting strategy to avoid Actual discussion.
1 Couch_Attack 2017-08-07
You're on a roll these posts are priceless
1 RocketSurgeon22 2017-08-07
Beautiful response.
1 jameszachary 2017-08-07
I have always thought that when news outlets quote "former officials" that those former officials should put their names to their claims. Brennan, Clapper etc.
1 lf11 2017-08-07
That's amazingly false. Haven't you ever heard of investigative journalism?
1 cspan1 2017-08-07
oh, you mean the unemployed?
1 Citizen90222 2017-08-07
That's a lot better than no cross referencing at all, or just flat out making shit up which is what many "news" sources today call news.
1 ThreeHighFiveMe 2017-08-07
This is how a lot of history books work as well. It's just a circle of references corroborating a story with no real source material.
1 OmeronX 2017-08-07
/r/worldnews is just another hole. unsubbed when a post about trump not getting a hotel had 40k upvotes while the cease fire got virtually nothing. Same league as r/politics. Just useless
1 YouandWhoseArmy 2017-08-07
Their statement about anonymous sources is correct, actually.
The posts recent record of professionalism is horrendous garbage and has totally destroyed mine and many others trust in them. So why would I believe their anonymous sources when I don't trust them? I don't.
Seymour hersch as a counter example also uses anonymous sources and I tend to believe him based on his record of professionalism and the trust he has built. Does this mean him and his anonymous sources are always right? Of course not. But I do not believe he is producing news pieces with the direct goal of deceiving me.
1 notsarasolo 2017-08-07
Honestly, I hope it keeps happening. For some reason people on reddit are flagrantly naive as to how many corporations/governments/manipulators are on here and the more blatant it gets the more the site will lose its appeal and die (which it deserves)
1 cholera_or_gonorrhea 2017-08-07
I actually think most people on Reddit are more aware than the average bear, but the main subs have been so astroturfed that it merely appears they're in line with the mainstream narrative.
Politics especially went to the shitter after Bernie dropped out of the race. I remember.
1 OmeronX 2017-08-07
vast majority of people are lurkers who likely don't even vote regularly. The majority could be ignoring them at this point, and there would be no way to know.
and /r/politics was high jacked around the DNC convention to enforce the "stronger together" narrative; which eventually switched to "fuck you for supporting bernie and spoiling her chances, you racist T_D sub"
1 Grarglejobber 2017-08-07
I was there talking shit the day they came to Reddit. :D
1 MissType 2017-08-07
They're probably encouraged by how well the covert propaganda worked on r/Politics, and are testing the waters before using the new WaPo account in 'news' subs.
