Where to find headline news without supporting the mainstream media
17 2017-07-04 by BillyErdball
Hello,
I am looking for a website that offers headline news that I can check briefly each morning and evening, strictly just to see if anything "big" has happened.
I don't want to give the mainstream media and more clicks than it deserves, but most of the alternative media sites are just filled with biased opinion pieces and tend to have the headline news pieces way after mainstream sites.
I am just looking for one that can deliver up to date headline news like "BLANK happened in BLANK country today, 15 injured" etc...
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Adblocker?

What does that have to do with my question? I'm confused. I already use an ad free browser. I am looking for a site that has up to date headline news that is not CNN, FOX , MSNBC, etc.

The online publications require you to have ads shown in order to make money from your visit, using an ad blocker & especially one that blocks ads at the source(with your host file on windows) will leave them with the bill of you downloading/viewing the article on your computer & not getting anything in return from the Api's that run the ads on their sites.

Ah, ok. But it will still count as a click though on their monthly anylitics, won't it?

Yes they will still count as clicks but analytics are just that-stats,the bottom line with these leechs is money.
If you want news just use search engines & ignore the big media corporations & stick to local sites were the object of interest happened.

Good suggestion. Thanks

Well the issue for you is that these places have the best sources so can rapidly get headlines out
Pretty sure stuff like bbc doesn't care about your clicks

They all care about clicks

As do all alternative sites
n/a BillyErdball 2017-07-04
Right, hence why I am hear to crowd source info on sites I can feel good supprting.
n/a Terex80 2017-07-04
But if you're using adblock why does it matter?
n/a BillyErdball 2017-07-04
The principal of it. Plus I still think it counts as click on their overall monthly page visits. I don't think adblocker makes it look like you were never there, I could be wrong though

But how will crowd sourced things get their news? From these main outlets
n/a BillyErdball 2017-07-04
You misunderstood my comment, I came to crowd source ideas for websites to visit, not to crowdsource the actual news stories
n/a Terex80 2017-07-04
But even so these sites have to get their info somewhere

OP is asking for the least biased news organizations to get honest news coverage, not a way to prevent giving MSM outlets ad revenue for clicks.

I am interested in something like this also. So far I use DrudgeReport.com but rarely click the links to avoid supporting the MSM

I sheepishly use Fox news, I am by no means a fan, I just look at the headlines and rarely click an article, but I am sick of giving them clicks and credit.

If you use gmail you may have noticed that they recently revamped their "News" feature. I recently found that you can go into the settings and pick preferred and blocked sources.

That is the first good idea and answer to my post out of the dozen or so people just trying to argue with me, thanks!

Sure! I am setting mine up now :-) In addition to your sources, you can also select your interests, surprisingly "Murder of Seth Rich" was an option in the drop down menu!

Use this if you are on windows/linux or a rooted phone.
Avoid the fakenews filter that's included & eve nwhen you whitelist a site with an ad blocker this will make sure the ads won't get through to you.
Not using their sites limits your ability to see the propaganda & counter it with facts.

You're in the right place now silly.

I do come to reddit and this sub for analysis of headline news, but it is not always up to date.

Thank you, but not exaclty what I am looking for. No offense, but it looks like mostly click bait echo chamber type stuff.

Also OANN

Awesome, thank you! At first glance, that is basically what I am looking for. Just straight headlines.

No prob man!
Breaking911 Twitter is great too. It's no bullshit straight news.

Democracy Now is pretty much the only daily, non-corporate news show. Generally super-liberal of course, but that's what you get when you have legitimate journalists not trying to pretend that they are "unbiased" or that there are two sides to every story. www.democracynow.org
