Interesting Difference in Results for Google Search vs Duckduckgo

I was writing a comment about something else in another subreddit. Someone mentioned how Hep C treatments cost about $18,000 for a round of treatment.

That got me thinking how you can often find much cheaper versions of the same meds from China or India. So I did a search to find out some info about some price and availability.

This is where things get interesting. Search terms are as follows: buy pegylated interferon china

For whatever reason, my Google search wasn't giving me any decent results. So I figured I'd give Duckduckgo a shot and see if they could do any better.

The difference in the results was shocking and I don not think that it's just the algorhythms. See for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Your google link is quite crazy, might that have something to do with it? Why would you have google.co.zm?

Why would you have google.co.zm?

I'm overseas right now.

.zm is my default version of google.

Are you in Zambia?

Yep.

Possible evidence Google is getting paid off from Big Pharma?

Yep.

Someone doesn't want to see their obscene profits threatened by low cost foreign competition.

Free market is only a free market for the little people. For those who can afford lobbyists and soe political influence, protectionism is the name of the game

Google search is pretty bad. I always clear my cookies so they don't have a link and give me tailored searches. Sometimes I may search a question and get irrelevant searches (largely from sensational blog posts and news websites). Google search is very controlled, it's not just avoided because of privacy concerns, but because it blows hard. Truly a shadow of its former self.

The moment it dropped the do no evil, you knew it was going to be a different company.

Just like a/all Google is manipulating search results to fit their agenda

The Sherman Act.

Thanks for pointing this out. We are being manipulated, but how can we know unless we look beyond what is provided to is.
