Do you know what happened when you mention the word "Shill" on /r/conspiracy huh? Do ya? You get put on THE LIST! The automatic downvote bot list that is.

161 2017-05-28 by 52NUKE

I just made the list!

If you're lucky enough to see this...

This guys post got me wondering why it was at the top of my rising tab yet only at 0 votes?

So i started watching it with this and it shows some crazy action. You can see how quickly the thread gets reset back to 0 right after a vote comes in.

There are other pictures showing some posts being played with as well but on different levels not as severe as the first.

To prove there isn't an issue with the website registering a different vote on every refresh i include a normal post ( in the #1 rising spot) with no bot influences. It shows actual minutes between votes and not an instant downvote. Just as i'm about to submit this post you can see the moment the bots have arrived.

Update

On rising right now the first post is sitting at 0 but i can see the percents moving up and down and the second post is sitting there like normal.

First 1 finally hit above 50% and it gets immediately downvoted.

Now these post rate #2 and #7 respectively yet the manipulated post still ranks #2 with a 0 score while the other has actually gone up in votes but dropped to #7. It goes to show how the vote manipulated post still hits reddits algorithm with total votes over vote percentage or actual vote score.

Why is there no fuzzing on this post from r/funny?

Hopefully the mods take care of this.

The mods have no interest in clearing out the shills.

The mods actually do. Thing is, they're clearing out the alt right shills. And that makes the alt right shills angry.

You are the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm the pot pointing out how a shitpost magically got upvoted when the only other comment is by a user who just posted a picture of Debbie Wasserman and somehow considered that a conspiracy.

Would you like to try again?

They do seem to pick on the right and leave the (much more numerous) left shills alone.

No, they ban the liberal users who accuse others of shills too.

It just turns out that /r/the_donald users are too young to understand the concept of rules and consequences.

Rules and consequences are for people they don't agree with!

Donna Brazil gave hillary access to questions before the debate? Horrid, cheating, lock her up.

Physically harm a reporter because he asked a question you didn't want to answer? He's a hero!

Shill here just means someone who disagrees with you. Sorry this aint T_D safe space.

No, it means those who are paid to spread propaganda.

That seems to overwhelmingly be the case

You're going to get. ………………… ..IT!

That makes sense lol my post was downvoted the second i posted it

I'd never seen pay.reddit.com before. The sites has used SSL by default for a long time so you can just head to reddit.com directly and don't need that workaround.

Some of those charts unless I'm mistaken also have upvotes going at at similar rate, so suspicious activity is only when theres lots of downvotes but not upvotes?

IDK you tell me, this post was acting fine then weird activity starts happening.

Both upvotes and downvotes, even at a fast rate could just mean alot of users coming, was what I was getting

Check out the spacing, many minutes without a vote then as soon as one comes in it gets down voted quickly.

Why don't you spend some money to get software to hunt bots down?

I'd be like an internet cowboy a wranglin' me up some bots out prowlin' the tubes.

The best hero

Go for it dude. Become this guy of the Internet. Going from sub to sub wiping out shills..

I tried to set this exact thing up awhile ago but hit a brick wall.

We already have what we need with reddit insight. You can watch the patterns there.

Your images don't show a thing because reddit fuzzes vote numbers so they're not static, and the scores are so low that you cannot see a trend. Tracking posts is only useful when there are far more votes and you can see BIG jumps not +1 / -1 or similar.

It doesn't add 10 points up and down on a new post. It's actually a lot easier to see the manipulation on new posts.

Their images don't show that, do you have an example that you think shows vote manipulation on a new post?

Check my recent post about shilled posts. 20 positive comments within an hour yet i couldnt break 2 upvotes Reddit insights (check OP) shows my post was downvoted immediately after every upvote. That is not how natural votes would flow. And there is NO reason any true denizen of /r/ conspiracy would be against my post which was based out of concern for the place i call home.

Those aren't 10 points, their just 1.

incorrect.

Seeing how bots are jumping on new posts before they gain traction shows a whole lot to me.

Exactly why are you trying to shit on this guys efforts?

But you can't see that in their images, you can only see what you want to see. So I am "shitting" on it because it's BS and just another excuse to have a circlejerk and deflect from the much more suspicious looking activity that shares their point of view.

Absolutley spot on.

Testing testing shill shill shill Seth Rich Pizzagate Podesta Hillary.

I am contantly down voted on this sub. No matter what I say. I think there's truth to this. Other subs I get up votes constantly. But not here. I don't care about votes so I'm ganna continue to shtpost day in day out.

Check my comments in this thread. There is definetely an invisible hand guiding the frontpage and dictating which topics are acceptable. Something needs to be done because this the equivalent of a terminal illness on this sub and possibly the whole site

It does make me think twice posting and turns me into a lurker instead of expressing my opinion. Then again I often don't up or down vote.

I encourage you to check put what i just posted. Be careful of being a lurker they are the sheep being guided by whoever is controlling these bots.

I guarantee you no one controls this brain but me. They wish they could control this massive enigma.

Feeling human today?

Today? I feel human every day.

Is that a direct Yes?

Hmm, no. Maybe I'm blind but I had to go back two weeks to find any of your comments here net downvoted, where you question the credentials of some random internet dude saying Israel did teh 911s!!1 fwiw, I agree with you on that, guy had no credentials.

I don't post too often but I go through my comments every so often and I see in the plus. And slowly they go down back to 1.

Looking at your comments on other subs they're all at about the same level though. I really don't see any indication of this at all.

Lol Mr. Detective is on the case!

It's like this sub doesn't know about vote fuzzing.

Out of curiosity, what is your definition of the term "vote fuzzing"?

Most of us know about vote fuzzing as a thing, but why would you lump in early vote manipulation on new posts, before they get traction, as part of what vote fuzzing is?

What the OP is outlining and showing you is not "vote fuzzing".

Because that is the point of vote fuzzing? The system is designed so that spam bots don't know if they've been banned, so they make the numbers move artificially in different directions but hovering around the true number.

This is pretty damn important in the early phase of the post, because just a few votes can determine if it will hit the hot page and gain realy traction, later when it goes into the hundreds or thousands of votes, vote fuzzing isn't all that needed.

what you are seeing is 100% vote fuzzing, that's why it is consistent in the range it's at and it has such frequency of change, it isn't bots downvoting, it's the script getting a different fuzzed number everytime it requests it.

I think I am not being as clear as I should.

I think the term "vote fuzzing" is the problem. It has been put out there as a catch-all term so people write-off all the games and bullshit reddit is playing. You can't lump in artificial voting and bot-driven algorithmic bullshit to create a fake front page under "vote fuzzing", and I think the term itself is allowing people to just sort of ho-hum all the shit going on as "oh, well, vote fuzzing" and then people don't bother to examine posts like this, or think any more about just how serious of a problem this kind of manipulation is on reddit. IMO it's completely fucking up this sub.

You know that vote fuzzing doesn't actually change how a post is doing and what it's true votes are, right? It's merely how the number given is affected.

It isn't changing the front page at all, it does nothing to that, it's merely that number on the post, nothing else.

vote fuzzing is not vote changes, it doesn't affect the front page and it doesn't change the movement of the post.

My problem is more that I see a lot of people kind of write off all the voting games and manipulation of a subreddit front page and topic suppression with downvote bots and all the problems as "oh, well, reddit vote-fuzzes" as both a way to dismiss a topic altogether as part of an argument, or internally dismiss those issue internally and not bother to care about the issues enough to investigate them, just dismiss it instead...:-/

I'm not writing off manipulation, what we see in this post images is vote fuzzing to the viewer(this case a script), you will see it anywhere.

You can see the post climb, which wouldn't happen if it was actually being downvoted successfully by bots.

This is completely wrong examine my post which prompted this post. Every upvote i got was instantly countered with a downvote. Their were no negative comments that anyone downvoting my post would agree with yet their are comments with around 8 karma and my post has not been able to break 5 upvotes (hovered around 1 upvote for the first 20 comments all of which would have upvoted or not voted)

You are wrong and the fact that you are trying so hard to convince us were wrong is troubling.

So why doesn't it make any corrections when nearly all the posts in the new queue get downvoted to 0 almost immediately after they are getting posted?

vote fuzzing doesn't do corrections, it's just to confuse spam bots.

Dont get too fried these shills appear to drain productive disscussion by intentionally misunderstanding topics forcing authentic creators (1% of total users/viewers) to waste time arguing already agreed upon points. It prevents the top users from connecting

Vote Fozzy

I noticed a while back some of my posts jumping by 5-10 points every refresh. No doubt bots are used, who knows what else.

This is just gonna lead us to use a different word, instead of s-h-i-1-1

sea shells by the blue Share sea.

shariablue?

people who use the word shills usually don't bring anything to the conversation

I am 100% on this list.

Basically, I can tell you from a gut feeling it feels like my posts are kept exactly in the 40-50% range. Unpopular as my opinions and conspiracies may be.

So it feels like for every upvote there's 2 to counter. Which may be real, but I posted real articles or events such as Alex Jones saying he has sources saying he knows who killed Seth Rich. Downvoted in the same pattern when other posts have no comments and are in the top 10.

Its fact i posted a theory about shills controlling a narrative through making posts and populating those posts with comments pushing whatever consensus they want us to think our community has come to. And despite 20 positive and related comments my karma stayed at 1 and according to reddit insights every time i was upvoted i was downvoted to even it out within seconds.

That's why you have to use a thesaurus and speak eloquently, bots can't handle the Queen's English.

I downvote anyone who complains about being downvoted. Goes double if they claim it's because of shills. Sorry, mate.

I dont mind down voting babies but look at the insight charts. Those are irregular downvote patterns. An irrefutable downvote campaign from the first upvote.

On one hand, "shill" is a worthless non-argument. Even if they are shills you still have to be able to prove them wrong. On the other hand, I believe this gang-stalking shit is real on this sub for an unfortunate few.

I agree. The main problem is that, as you said, calling someone a shill does nothing. Calling shills out does nothing, especially on reddit. The best way to go about things is just to not care how many upvotes and downvotes something has, and if you weren't doing that anyway... :P

So you're saying there's gang-stalking but no ordinary garden variety shills?

Oh, I'm quite sure there are, but it doesn't matter if they're getting paid to post or they do it for free, you should still be able to defeat them in an argument or you're worthless imho.

Oh, it's almost as if accusing someone of being a shill is against the rules here and people are acting accordingly.

Calling someone a shill is an accusation without evidence and therefore downvoted [even if justified]. However I understood just mentioning shills will get you the same treatment, but it is not an accusation, it's a word. Is the word shill banned? If not, then it's unfair and unjustified.

I've talked about shills plenty and I'm not seeing weird vote patterns ony posts or comments. This is just a persecution complex.

What if I spell it alphanumerically like 5hill?

Nice find.

There's vote fuzzing and vote manipulation. The problem is, the vote fuzzing makes the manipulation that much harder to see, which I suspect may have been part of the original motivation, especially since it's trivial to bypass for an actual shadowbanned vote bot account.

Reddit's algorithm of what gets promoted to /rising and /hot make it so easy to game to hide posts. You'd probably only need about 20 accounts to kill a given post, maybe a bit more if it's a popular topic to begin with, or if there is some manipulation on the other side.

The problem is this analysis just doesn't demonstrate conclusively that a particular post is being manipulated.

It's annoying. It's against the sub's rules. It gets old.

LMFAO. Who gives a flying fuck about down votes other than Karma Mongers. It's the only tool they have for not being totally useless.
