This is a trick of labeling. We label earth as a planet, and celestial bodies as planets, so through the language there is a connection made between the properties of the two. Earth is the only place where we are which makes it unique.

This question is about motivation, it is not something that you can physically prove first hand, so any answer I give is just speculation. The explanation for 'why' that I accept is that those perpetrating the ball earth hoax do not want us to know the importance of our existence. If we are just a random occurrence of matter in an infinite universe then nothing we do is important. If, however, we are the center of the universe with the sun, moon and stars revolving around us it would seem that our existence and what we do with our time does matter.

but how do you know that that's where the camera is looking directly on the horizon. The fish eye lense thing could go both ways. if the earth is a globe a fish eye could make it look flat and vice versa.
